Liverpool 1-2 Man United (EPL)

Match Details.

Manchester United have now beaten the reigning Premier League champions away from home in back-to-back seasons — last term’s 2–1 win at Manchester City and this season’s 2–1 victory at Liverpool. It’s the first time they’ve achieved that feat since 1906–07 (vs Liverpool) and 1907–08 (vs Newcastle).

Liverpool have now lost two of their last 15 Premier League meetings with Manchester United (W7 D6 L2), with both defeats coming by a 2–1 scoreline — the first at Old Trafford in August 2022 and the latest at Anfield in October 2025. It’s only the second time since 2018–19 that the Reds have been beaten by United in the league.

Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim is only the third manager to win both of his first two Premier League away games at reigning champions, after Manuel Pellegrini and Antonio Conte.

Liverpool have now lost each of their last three Premier League games, after winning their first five of the season. It’s their first run of three consecutive league defeats since February 2021. This is only the second time that there has been a goal within the opening two minutes of a Premier League game between Liverpool and Manchester United, after Nicky Butt for the Red Devils at Old Trafford in October 1995.
