At the spectacular Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will play Sao Tome and Principe in their final AFCON qualifying match on Sunday.
Jose Peseiro’s team will want to win the game and finish first in their group even though the three-time African champions have already qualified for the AFCON event scheduled for Cote d’Ivoire next year even before Sunday’s kickoff.
Sao Tome and Principe, on the other hand, are no longer in the running for the premier African football competition, but they will nevertheless make an effort to maintain what little national pride they have left after being humiliated 10-0 in the return leg in June 2022.
